How To Grow Spinach/ Palakura

You Can use 18*6 or 24*6 Inch Grow bag for growing Spinach. If you want to grow in Plastic pot use minimum 6 Inch pot . The wider pots/ Grow Bags will provide more space and more nutrient to the plant .
Spinach / Palak needs moist but well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Use soil mix with combination of Red Soil , Vermicompost and Cocopeat at a ratio of (2:1:1) . Also add 2-5% of Neem Powder to the soil mix. Neem Powder will act as fungicide.
Sowing Spinach Seeds : Palak is easy to grow even for beginners. Sow Spinach Seeds / Palakura Seeds 1/2 inch deep and 3 to 4 inches apart. This will help the plants to grow and expand their roots.
Spinach / Palakura will grow well in Full sunlight or partial shade. At least 4 to 5 hours of sunlight per a day should be provided for healthy growth.
Water Spinach plants gently and thoroughly. Regular watering early in the day is advised. If the temperature is higher than 35 Degrees water it twice . Excess watering will cause in Root rot for any plant , so you need have proper drainage system in your container . Make sure that Excess water will drain properly .

Common issues: Spinach is easy to grow plant . It will grow fast . Diseases such as Downy Mildew, Anthracnose, Cladosporium Leaf spot, Stemphylium leaf spot, Damping-off, Root Rot, and pests like Cutworms, Flea Beetles, Slugs or Snails, Aphids, Leaf Miners may occur. Harvesting: Spinach / Palak leaves can be harvested in 40 to 50 days from seed plantation. Palak is very fast growing. Cut the big leaves of the plants as you need them. This encourages additional growth so you will be able to harvest again after a couple of weeks. Spinach leaves can be harvested as long as the growing point is not damaged, spinach plants will most likely regrow for two or more harvests.
