How To Grow Red Amaranthus | Erra Thotakura
Pot Size :
You Can use 18*9 or 24*9 Inch Grow bag for growing Amaranthus. If you want to grow in Plastic pot use minimum 9 Inch pot . The wider pots/ Grow Bags will provide more space and more nutrient to the plant .
Soil Requirements: Red Amaranthus needs moist but well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Use soil mix with combination of Red Soil , Vermicompost and Cocopeat at a ratio of (2:1:1) . Also add 2-5% of Neem Powder to the soil mix. Neem Powder will act as fungicide.
Sowing Red Amaranthus Seeds : Mix seeds with a handful of soil or sand. Sprinkle the mixture of Red Amaranthus Seeds onto moist soil and press them lightly. Don’t cover them, as seeds are very small in size. Keep soil moist until the seedlings sprout.
Light requirements: Red Amaranthus requires Full sunlight. At least six hours of direct sunlight is required each day for healthy growth.
Water Requirements:
Water them every day. If the temperature is higher than 35 Degrees water it once a day . Excess watering will cause in Root rot for any plant , so you need have proper drainage system in your container. Make sure that Excess water will drain properly .
Common issues:
Red Amaranthus is easy to grow plant . Red Amaranthus is susceptible to damage by foliar insects such as leaf miners, leaf rollers, cutworms, aphids, flea beetles and mites. Those problems can be easily resolved using our Bio Insecticides . Use our Bio Insecticide Guardian for removing pest.
Harvesting: Harvest Red Amaranthus leaves when the plants are around 50 to 60 days old. Cut off the entire plant a few inches above ground level.
