How To Grow Beetroot from Seeds
Pot Size :
You Can use 18*9 or 24*9 Inch Grow bag for growing beetroots. If you want to grow in Plastic pot use minimum 9 Inch pot . The wider pots/ Grow Bags will provide more space and more nutrient to the plant .
Soil Requirements:
beetroot need moist but well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Use soil mix with combination of Red Soil , Vermicompost and Cocopeat at a ratio of (2:1:1) . Also add 2-5% of Neem Powder to the soil mix. Neem Powder will act as fungicide.
Seed Placement : Sow beetroot seeds 2 cm deep and at least 10 to 15 cm (4-6″) apart. It’ll be easiest to plant them in rows. Beetroot seeds are relatively large and are easy to handle and space out along the row.
Light requirements:
Beetroot prefers Full sunlight. Good amount of sunlight will help plant to grow healthy .
Water Requirements: Beetroot has shallow roots and it is important to water the plants regularly and frequently. If the temperature is higher than 35 Degrees water it twice . Excess watering will cause in Root rot for any plant , so you need have proper drainage system in your container . Make sure that Excess water will drain properly .
Common issues:
beetroots are easy to grow. It will grow fast and give you good amount of fruits . The common issues you face while growing beetroots are Root Rot, Beet Curly Top, Cercospora Leaf Spot . Harvesting: Beetroots will be ready for harvest in 50-60 days from seed plantation. Well sized fruits will be good in taste and nutrient value . Don’t pluck beets before they are ready to harvest
